A heavy police presence was seen outside the post-mortem house, while family members, friends and villagers gathered to pay their last respects. Though the post-mortem examination was initially scheduled for 8 am, it was delayed due to procedural formalities and concluded around 1:30 pm, after which the body was taken for the final rites.

Sandeep’s relative Satyavan said the family was “satisfied with the ongoing action” and had agreed to hand over the body after a meeting with officials on Wednesday night. His cousin Sanjay said, “The FIR has been registered based on the suicide note and video. We have full faith in the administration, which has assured us that the investigation will proceed as per the evidence.”

Sandeep had died by suicide on Tuesday, using his service pistol in a field near Ladhaut village. In his suicide note and video, he had levelled serious allegations against late senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, his family members and subordinates.

Following Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s visit to the bereaved family on Wednesday, police registered an FIR on a complaint filed by Sandeep’s wife, Santosh Devi. However, the police kept the FIR confidential.
