The income certificates submitted by parents to avail the benefit of free education of their wards in private schools under rule 134A of the Haryana School Education Act will now be matched with the income shown by them in Parivar Pehchan Patra and other documents.
Directorate Elementary Education has formed a three-member panel headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner in every district to find out the authenticity of the income shown by the parents in the certificate that is used for school admission purposes.
District Education Officer (DEO) and District Revenue Officer will be other members of the committee.
Sources said the action had been taken in view of the issue being raised by private schools across the state against income certificates produced by parents for enrolling their children in schools under the EWS category. The Progressive Private Schools Association, in its recent tweet to the Chief Minister and Education Minister, had demanded re-verification of income certificates while raising questions over their authenticity.
“The committee will inquire into income certificates of EWS students’ family and will verify the cases within a week if any difference is found. After verifying the certificate, the committee will ask the schools to enrol those students without further delay,” reads a communiqué sent to all district administrative authorities from the Director (Elementary Education).
The Director states the majority of private schools are not giving admissions to students selected under rule 134A. It should be ensured that the students whose income certificates are beyond doubt would be enrolled without further delay.
