Three students were seriously injured after a violent clash broke out between two student groups at a private university, KR Mangalam, located near Sohna on Friday. The students allegedly attacked one another with sticks and sharp-edged weapons.
An FIR has been registered against six named students at the Sohna City police station.
According to the complaint submitted by Nikhil, a law student and resident of Gurugram, he was attacked soon after he stepped out of his classroom. He alleged that a vehicle was parked at the university gate “in which sticks, rods and other weapons were kept.”
“About six accused students attacked me and I was struck in the waist with an axe. When my friends tried to rescue me, the attackers also attacked them with sticks and rods. Two of my friends and I were seriously injured in this violent incident. When all three injured were being brought from hospital to police station after treatment, the accused students also chased our vehicle and threatened to kill us,” Nikhil said in his complaint.
Following the complaint, police registered an FIR against the six identified students — Manu Fagna alias Mannu Bhadana, Chiku Poswal, Atraf Rajput, Sachin Ghodarop, Bharat Khatana and Kamaljeet Poswal — under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Bhondsi police station.
“FIR has been registered and we are trying to nab the accused student. The cause behind the clash has not been ascertained yet,” said Inspector Ravinder Kumar, SHO, Sohna City police station.
Despite repeated attempts, the university management could not be reached for comment.
