Three surveyors booked for manipulating property info

Municipal Corporation Panipat (MCP) has lodged an FIR against three surveyors of a private company, which is doing a survey of property tax in the city, allegedly for demanding money from residents on the pretext of showing their commercial buildings as residential property.

‘Teams disbanded’

The survey work was stopped last week and all teams in Panipat have been disbanded after we received several complaints against them.

As per information, private company ‘Yashi Consulting Service’ had started survey of residential and commercial properties under the limits of MCP in January. Several teams of the company are conducting door-to-door survey of properties in the city.

After receiving several complaints, the MCP Commissioner directed Smridhi Nilawar, Urban Planner of Yashi Consulting, to lodge criminal cases against those demanding money. Smridhi lodged three separate criminal cases against three persons — Vicky of Kurar village on December 2, Sagar of Waisri village on December 3 and Sohan on December 10.

Three separate cases have been registered in the Model Town police station as they demanded money from the residents in Model Town.

“The survey work was stopped last week and all teams in Panipat have been disbanded because we received several complaints about them,” she added.

“Around 66 per cent survey has been completed in the city and now, we have called teams from Gurugram to conduct the rest of the survey here,” said Smridhi Nilawar.

According to sources, 1,41,278 units have been registered in the MCP records. Of these, 43,059 are residential units, 11,721 commercial; 3,453 industrial; 1,255 institutional; and 29,894 vacant plots. Mixed-use units are 50,463 and 1,430 units are registered under the special category units.
