Under its ongoing campaign against illegal mining, the district authorities impounded three vehicles in the past two days while illegally transporting mining materials from other places. A total fine of Rs 6.45 lakh has been imposed on them.

District Mining Engineer Rajesh Kumar provided details regarding the recent action, explaining that a joint team from the Mining Department, Police Department, Forest Department and the Pollution Control Board conducted routine patrols in the past two days.

“During these operations, a tractor and trailer illegally transporting sand from Rajasthan were caught with the help of the police. The driver failed to produce any bill for the sand. Consequently, the team impounded the vehicle and initiated proceedings to recover Rs 2.15 lakh in royalty and penalties,” he added.
