Superintendent of Police Rajiv Deswal said the district police had issued an alert regarding security on Republic Day.

He said police personnel had been deployed and security had been increased across the district by the district police.

“SHOs of all police stations have been given orders to make strict security arrangements in their respective areas,” said SP Deswal.

According to information, security has been increased by setting up check-posts at the venues and on all roads leading to the venues.

PCRs and Cheetah riders have been deployed for security around the venues.

“The district police have made tight security arrangements to ensure that the Republic Day celebrations are conducted peacefully. Metal detectors have been installed at the entrance to the venues,” said Deswal.

He said a special checking drive was being run by police officials in hotels and dharamshalas in their respective areas.

He added that police officials were issuing instructions to the owners of hotels, restaurants and rest houses to keep complete details of the visitors and to keep a record of their photographs, identity cards and other documents.

He said checking drives were being carried out at all bus stands, railway stations and other places.

All SHOs and heads of police posts had been told to check strangers in their respective jurisdictions.

He said the venue areas had been declared as a red zone under Section 144 and flying drones and gliders had been completely banned under Section 24 of the Drone Act.

“In view of the Republic Day celebrations, there will be a ban on flying drones and gliders at the venues and other important places,” said Deswal.
