Titoli panchayat urges SP to arrest murder accused
A panchayat from Titoli village in Rohtak district met Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Bijarniya on Monday, demanding the immediate arrest of two remaining accused in the murder of village youth Dev Vrat.
The SP assured the villagers that the accused would be made to join the investigation and interrogated in their presence.
"My brother Dev Vrat was attacked with iron rods and pipes on March 17, following which he died on March 23. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder, but two others are still at large. We had come to meet the SP and seek their arrest," said Yashveer, the deceased’s brother.
Family members of Dev Vrat claimed they were still receiving threats from those involved in the murder.
"We are being threatened by the persons behind the murder of my husband. They should be arrested at the earliest," said Tamanna, Dev Vrat’s wife.
Kundu Khap leader Jaiveer Kundu, who accompanied the villagers, pointed out that the incident stemmed from an old dispute between two groups in the village.
"A dispute had taken place between two groups a couple of years ago, but it had been settled. We did not get any complaint from either side thereafter, but a youth got injured in a recent quarrel and later succumbed to his injuries. Hence, we have come to seek justice for his family," he stated.
The panchayat urged the police to take swift action to ensure justice and prevent further escalation of tensions in the village.
