The state BJP organisation may soon replace certain sitting district presidents of the party — especially those district heads who have crossed the age of 55 years are likely to be removed, paving the way for younger leaders.

An internal polling process is being conducted in the BJP to elect mandal heads, who, in turn, would elect the presidents of the district units of the party.

"Only those persons who fall in the age-group of 45-55 years will be made district presidents. Hence, those who have attained the age of 55 years would be rendered ineligible for the post," said a BJP leader requesting anonymity.

Party sources said the presidents of Rohtak and several other districts were likely to be replaced in the coming days.

The BJP had not only lost the Rohtak Lok Sabha seat, but also faced defeat in all four Assembly constituencies of the district. While the Congress retained the Rohtak, Kalanaur and Garhi Sampla-Kiloi Assembly seats in the recent elections, the party also wrested the Meham seat.

As per political analysts, the BJP is most likely to opt for a non-Jat leader as the head of the Rohtak unit to consolidate non-Jat votes.

The incumbent district president, Ranvir Dhaka, is considered close to the BJP's former state president and national secretary Om Prakash Dhankar.

The Haryana Brahmin Kalyan Mahasabha has already staked its claim to the post of the BJP's Rohtak district president. Meanwhile, five of the 15 mandal heads of Rohtak district have been elected unanimously in recent elections.

"The BJP is not only the world's largest political party, but also the most disciplined one. Five mandal heads of Rohtak district have been elected. The remaining 10 will also be elected within this week," said the party's district electoral officer, Sandeep Joshi.

The mandal heads will then elect the presidents of their respective districts, who, in turn, will elect the state president.
