Chandigarh, August 7
Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal today held a meeting with all Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers of the state through video conferencing from here and said a team of the Election Commission of India would visit Haryana on August 12 and 13. They will review the preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.
He said engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited are conducting the first-level checking of EVMs in all 22 districtricts of the state. He said all districtrict election officers must ensure that representatives of recognised political parties in the state are present during the checking.
Agarwal directed all districtrict election officers to direct block level officers (BLOs) and registration officers to ensure no forms were pending with them. Form-6 for getting the vote registered, Form-7 for getting the vote cancelled and Form-8 for changing the address are available on the Election Commission’s portal https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ and the department’s website https://ceo haryana.gov.in/. For any assistance, suggestions, or complaints, one can contact the districtrict election or registration officer or call the Chief Election Officer’s toll-free number 1950.
The Chief Electoral Officer also stated that 817 new polling booths had been set up for this year’s Assembly elections, bringing the total number of polling booths in the state to 20,629. He urged the districtrict election officers to personally inspect the polling booths as well.
