In a swift operation, the Tohana police in Fatehabad district cracked a brutal murder case within an hour.
Around 11pm on Friday, the police received a report of a body lying near Baliala Head. A team from Tohana City police station rushed to the spot and identified the deceased as Chhabil Das (48), a resident of Rajnagar, Tohana. He was found dead, covered in blood. The body was sent for post-mortem, and the police launched an immediate search for suspects.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested the main accused, Gagan, son of Jagdish Chandra and a resident of the same locality, in under an hour. Initial interrogation revealed a shocking motive.
Gagan confessed to killing his uncle, suspecting an illicit relationship between Chhabil Das and his wife, Renu (33). On the night of the incident, the two men consumed alcohol together. In a fit of rage, Gagan attacked his uncle with a sharp weapon resembling a 'gandasi', fatally slashing his throat. He then fled the scene but was quickly apprehended by the police.
Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain confirmed that a case under serious sections of murder had been registered against the accused at Tohana City police station. "All evidence from the crime scene has been collected. A detailed investigation is underway based on the post-mortem report and technical evidence. Further legal proceedings are being carried out as per due process," he said.
