A thief entered the shop and stole a gold biscuit worth Rs12 lakh by tricking the shop owner’s mother. At the time of the incident, owner was not present at the shop.
Traders demanded immediate arrest of the thief and recovery of the stolen gold. Punia assured them that the case was being treated as a priority and the accused would be arrested soon.
Traders informed the SP that CCTV footage showed the accused talking to woman at the shop. Eyewitnesses and the footage suggest that the thief might have hypnotised her or used some other trick, as she seemed unaware when he took gold biscuit and ran away from the shop.
“We came here to meet the SP. He has given us full assurance that the thief will be arrested soon,” said Narinder Bambha, president, Karnal Beopar Mandal. The police in other districts have also been alerted as the accused might be part of an inter-state gang involved in similar crimes.
