Trader's muder: Traffic blocked, markets shut in Samalkha

Enraged over the murder of a ghee trader in Samalkha on Tuesday night, shopkeepers/traders today shut their markets and blocked the traffic on the NH-44 for over an hour. Shopkeepers protested against the police to control the rising crime in the region.
Meanwhile, the Panipat police announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for providing information about the accused and also released a CCTV footage of the incident.
The protesters raised slogans against the police and demanded the arrest of the accused. They said crime in Samalkha was rising and shopkeepers were not feeling safe. Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhokkar reached the spot to support the protesting businessmen.
