The traffic wing of the Panipat police, under the supervision of SP Bhupender Singh, on Sunday organised a special awareness campaign for road safety at the Panipat Toll Plaza on NH-44.
Sub Inspector Subhash, in charge (Traffic), along with his team, advised the drivers by giving them information about the traffic rules, including not to drive under the influence of the alcohol, not to use mobile phones while driving, following road signals, mandatory use of helmets for the two-wheeler riders and mandatory use of the seat belts during the driving.
SI Subhash also explained the dangers and consequences of not wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler, including the possibility of serious injuries and even death in case of an accident.
The Traffic SHO said that road safety was the responsibility of every citizen. If every citizen followed the traffic rules, the number of accidents could be reduced easily, he said. The police personnel also distributed the pamphlets to the people and appealed to them to obey the traffic rules.
