A five-day training programme on three new criminal laws –Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNNS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam-2023" commenced at the Dr S Radhakrishnan conference hall of the Haryana Police Academy (HPA), Madhuban.
Organised under the aegis of the Haryana Prosecution Department, the training will continue upto March 21. The programme was inaugurated by the Deputy District Attorney (DDA), Surendra Kumar, under the guidance of academy director Dr Arshinder Singh Chawla. A total of 28 public prosecutors from various units across the state are participating in the training.
Rajesh Chaudhary, district attorney, Panipat, emphasised that justice should reach the last person in line and said that securing justice for even a single victim through dedicated efforts was a significant achievement. He said that justice must not only be delivered in court but also be visibly upheld to maintain public confidence in the judiciary.
Chaudhary urged prosecutors to be problem solvers rather than obstacles. He exhorted them to remain curious, as curiosity was essential for personal and professional growth. He stressed the importance of staying updated on landmark judicial decisions along with new criminal laws and sharing knowledge with colleagues. He also highlighted the crucial role of the prosecution in ensuring fair and lawful criminal proceedings, as public prosecutors were an integral part of the justice system.
Surendra Kumar outlined the training schedule and welcomed the chief guest. He said that subject matter experts were invited to provide in-depth insights into the new criminal laws. He expressed gratitude to academy Director Dr Arshinder Singh Chawla, the Haryana Prosecution Department and Course Director Dr Sohan Singh for organising the programme.
