Transport Minister Vij orders suspension of cop for delay in action
Infuriated over delay in action against a private school owner in the case of death of an eight-year-old boy, Transport Minister Anil Vij ordered the suspension of ASI Sukhdev Singh.
Vij also instructed the authorities to initiate action against the school management. The step was initiated during the District Grievances Redressal Committee meeting at the RKSD College hall on Friday.
As per the complaint of Pawan Kumar, a resident of Kithana village, his eight year-old son was a student of the private school. On September 16, 2024, his son was not dropped at the designated place by the private school bus, due to which another vehicle hit his son, resulting in his death. He alleged that the school management, in collusion with the police, pressured him to settle the matter. He demanded action against the school owner, "as there was no helper in the bus due to which this incident happened".
Reacting to his complaint, the minister ordered the suspension of the ASI and directed the police officials to ensure compensation to the child's father by the insurance company.
“We all are here to serve the people. A child has lost his life and yet there was no sense of urgency. The ASI failed to act appropriately and this negligence will not be tolerated,” said Vij.
In another case related to structural damage to a house due to the construction of a street in Siwan village, Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Siwan, alleged that negligence by the Panchayati Raj Department caused cracks in his house. SDM Ajay Kumar submitted his report and said that there was negligence on part of the sarpanch, village secretary and JE of the Panchayati Raj Department. Vij directed the Deputy Commissioner Kaithal to take action against the sarpanch. Besides, he directed to chargesheet the JE and village secretary. He was also directed to provide compensation for the loss incurred to the house owner after evaluation from Kurukshetra Engineering College. Meanwhile, 13 complaints were kept for hearing, comprising five old and eight new.
