A havan-yagya was performed at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Friday to mark the death anniversary of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal. Teachers, employees and students gathered to pay tribute to Chaudhary Bansi Lal, reflecting on his contributions and leadership during his tenure as Chief Minister and Union Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Kultaj Singh highlighted Bansi Lal’s legacy, describing him as the “Vikas Purush” who played a pivotal role in shaping modern Haryana. “Apart from being a key architect of Haryana’s development, Bansi Lal was known for keeping his promises and fulfilling his responsibilities within stipulated timeframes. He never indulged in caste, religion or regional politics, treating the entire state equally,” he said.

Prof Singh further noted that Bansi Lal revolutionised rural connectivity by linking every village in Haryana with electricity and roads. He also implemented major projects like the Lift Irrigation Scheme, ensuring water supply to farmers’ fields and improving the state’s irrigation infrastructure.

The event was attended by several dignitaries and university members, including Samir Ahlawat, Vikas Ahlawat, Rajkumar Sharma, Narendra, Dr Sanjeev, Dr Jitender, Jagat Ahlawat, Manjeet Nandal, Gyan Singh Ahlawat, Monu Fogat, Ravi Rathi, Sumit Rathi, Sukram Sahrawat, Anand Sharma, Mohit Ahlawat, Dr Manjeet Dalal, Sahil, Neelam, Anju and Hema Chhikara.
