In a major breakthrough, a special detective unit of the Kaithal police arrested a person allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the Pundri area and recovered 242.56 kg of 'doda post' from a truck worth Rs 20 lakh in the market.

DSP Gurvinder Singh said on Wednesday evening, special detective unit in-charge Sub-Inspector Ramesh Chand and his team members were patrolling near Guru Brahmanand Chowk in Pundri when they received a tip-off that a truck was parked under the Mohana bridge on NH-152D, with a man inside and a consignment of narcotics hidden in it.

The police team rushed to the spot and apprehended the truck driver. The accused was identified as Swarn Singh, a resident of Nilokheri. The DSP supervised the search operation. Inside the truck container, electronic goods were found loaded. The police recovered 16 plastic sacks, which were found to contain a total of 242.56 kg of 'doda post'. A case was registered at the Pundri police station.
