A truck on Tuesday hit a herd of cattle crossing the road near Dadanpur bypass on the Jhajjar-Rewari National Highway, killing 15 heads of calves and injuring seven others.
The mishap took place in the evening, when a large herd of cattle—accompanied by herders from Rajasthan—was trying to cross the highway. The truck, approaching from the Rewari side, lost control and rammed directly into the animals. The impact led to the immediate death of 15 calves, while seven others sustained serious injuries.
Following the accident, there was chaos at the site. The truck abandoned the vehicle and fled. On receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot. The injured cattle were taken to Gokuldham Gaushala Hospital here.
The police have impounded the truck and based on a complaint filed by the cattle owner, Ranchhor, a case was registered against the absconding driver.
