Twin cities get a breathing space
The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has launched a drive to remove encroachments from roads of twin cities.
Under the drive, a team led by Chief Sanitation Inspector Vinod Beniwal removed encroachments from Meera Bai Market in Yamunanagar.
This anti-encroachment drive was carried out, so that the vehicles of fire brigade and ambulance could pass easily during an emergency. Besides, the pedestrians should not face any problem while walking on the road in the market. The officials of the MCYJ warned the shopkeepers that if they kept goods on the road again, they would be confiscated.
According to information, a team led by the Chief Sanitary Inspector reached Meera Bai Market. The team comprising Sanitary Inspector Sushil Kumar, ASI Sumit Lathar, Superviser Ranbir and Rakesh Tejali removed encroachments from Jagadhri Workshop road to Meera Bai Market.
As soon as the team began removing the encroachments, a number of shopkeepers started picking up their goods themselves and keeping them inside their shops. “We have warned the shopkeepers that if they keep goods on the road again in future, they will be confiscated,” said Beniwal.
He said the encroachments caused traffic jams on the road of the market, affecting emergency services such as ambulance and fire brigade.
“All shopkeepers are appealed to keep the goods inside their shops instead of keeping them on the road,” said Beniwal. He said Meera Bai Bazaar was the most prominent market of Yamunanagar, where there was a huge crowd every day.
“People have to face a number of problems while walking on the road due to encroachments. Therefore, the anti-encroachment drive is being carried out, so that the public do not face any problem. The action will continue in future as well,” said Beniwal.
According to information, on the instructions of Commissioner of the MCYJ, Akhil Pilani, anti-encroachment squads have been formed for the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.
These squads are headed by Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) Harjeet Singh (in Ward 1 to Ward 7), CSI Vinod Beniwal (in Ward 8 to Ward15) and CSI Anil Nain (in Ward16 to Ward 22).
