Two arrested for extortion in alleged rape case settlement
In a suspected case of honey trapping, Jind police arrested two individuals, including a woman who had earlier filed a rape case against the complainant, for allegedly demanding Rs 8 lakh to settle the matter.
The woman had lodged a complaint with the Sadar Narwana police station on January 8, 2025, accusing a man named Manish of rape. However, during the investigation, Manish’s mother approached DSP Narwana, claiming that the woman was demanding Rs 8 lakh to withdraw the case. She had already taken Rs 1 lakh as an advance.
DSP Narwana assigned the case to the CIA Narwana team, led by ASI Ramesh Kumar. The police marked the serial numbers of the currency notes and handed them to the complainant. The accused then called the complainant to a grocery store in Uchana Kalan to collect the remaining amount. As soon as the accused took the cash, the police raided the location and arrested them, recovering Rs 8 lakh from their possession.
The Jind police have registered a case against the accused, including a man from Kahsun village and the woman. Both were produced in court and remanded to police custody for further interrogation.
