Two arrested in robbery case
With the arrest of two persons, the Karnal police have claimed to have solved the robbery in a house on the intervening night of January 6 and 7 at Geeta Colony under the Sadar Bazar police station. A group of six to seven armed assailants stormed into a house and held a couple hostage with sharp-edged weapons and robbed valuables worth lakhs before fleeing the scene.
A case of robbery was registered at the City police station. Inspector Satbir Singh formed a team led by Sub-inspector Pradeep Kumar to investigate the matter. After a thorough investigation, the team members arrested two suspects on the evening of January 17 from Lav Kush Colony in the city. They were identified as Hashiyar Singh alias Bhagat, a resident of Gali number 4, Lav Kush Colony, and Ajay of Chand Sarai, Mangal Colony in the city.
Giving details, while interacting with mediapersons, DSP (City), Rajiv Kumar said on January 18, both accused were produced in the court and taken on five days police remand. During the remand period, the police recovered around half kg of silver jewellery, a gold chain and cash from the accused.
He further said that during interrogation, the accused disclosed information about their other accomplices. Efforts are under way to apprehend them, and they will also be arrested soon and brought to justice.
