The police on Friday informed that the anti-narcotic cell recovered over 10-quintal of doda post from a truck and arrested two persons in this connection.
The accused were identified as Paramjit Singh and Pawandeep, residents of Punjab. A Kurukshetra police spokesman said, following a tip-off, that truck driver Paramjit Singh, a resident of Punjab, takes load to Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal, and brings doda post on return, a check post was laid by the anti-narcotic cell. During checking near Shahabad, the truck was spotted, he said. During search, over 10-quintal of doda post was recovered from the truck, he said. A case was registered under the NDPS Act against the accused. The accused was produced before a court which sent him to 11-day police remand, he said.
During further investigation, the police arrested Pawandeep, a resident of Punjab, on whose directions, Paramjit was bringing doda post, the spokesperson said. Pawandeep was produced before a court which sent him to eight-day police remand. Further investigation was on and more people were likely to be arrested in this connection, the spokesman informed.
