Two arrested with hand grenade and live cartridges in Kurukshetra
They were on a two-wheeler with a Punjab registration number plate when they were apprehended by the CIA-2 unit on NH-152D
The CIA-2 unit of the Kurukshetra police has arrested two miscreants and seized a hand grenade from their possession on the Kurukshetra-Pehowa road late on Tuesday evening. The miscreants were identified as Gurvinder and Sandeep of Punjab. They were on a two-wheeler with a Punjab registration number plate when they were apprehended by the CIA-2 unit on NH-152D.
The police also seized five live cartridges from their possession. The accused were reportedly waiting to collect the arms. Upon receiving information, DSP Pehowa Nirmal Singh, other senior officers, and the bomb disposal team reached the spot, and the grenade was diffused.
The CIA-2 unit in-charge Mohan Lal said that following a tip-off regarding two suspects on a two-wheeler on NH-152D in the Pehowa area, a search was launched, and they were spotted at a deserted location. After seeing the team, they attempted to flee but were apprehended. They informed the team about the hand grenade and warned that it might explode.
The hand grenade and five live cartridges were recovered from a bag and were subsequently diffused. The handler was giving instructions from abroad. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
