Two cops suspended, one terminated for ‘misbehaving’ with cow vigilante in Sanoli

Superintendent of Police Lokender Singh on Thursday suspended two police officials including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, terminated a Special Police Officer (SPO) and removed a DIAL-112 driver for reportedly misbehaving with a cow vigilante in the Sanoli area.

Singh also directed Samalkha DSP Narender Kumar to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

A video, allegedly of the cops “misbehaving” with the cow vigilante, has made rounds on social media. In the video, a cop can reportedly be seen pulling the cow vigilante by his braid, and forcibly trying to push him into a police vehicle.

Karan of the Sanoli road area, a cow vigilante, in his complaint to SP Lokender Singh, said he, along with his team, reached Sanoli after getting information about cow smuggling.

They informed the police, and DIAL-112. The vigilante team spotted a Bolero car with six buffaloes stuffed inside.The occupants of the car failed to show documents regarding the purchase of animals. Meanwhile, a truck reached there in which 25-30 buffaloes were stuffed.

The vehicles were stopped at the Yamuna naka, however, they managed to enter Uttar Pradesh.

Karan questioned police personnel over how the vehicles had managed to enter UP, despite having been stopped at the naka.

After this, police personnel reportedly misbehaved with him. They beat him, he alleged, and tried to pull him into a police vehicle by his braid, which hurt his religious sentiments. Karan’s team members reportedly recorded the ordeal.

Karan alleged that the police tried bribe him, but he refused.Following the complaint, the Superintendent of Police directed an inquiry into the matter, and assigned the case to the Samalkha DSP Narender Kumar. Following primary inquiry reports, the SP suspended ASI Shiv Kumar and Sanoli naka In-charge Head Constable Sushil, and terminated SPO Skand. Driver Kuldeep was removed from duty, and action against him has been recommended to the department concerned. He was posted under HKRN.

SP Lokender Singh warned police officials that misbehaving with anyone would not be tolerated.

“Strict action would be initiated after getting any complaint regarding police personnel misbehaving with the public,” the SP said.
