The convicts have been identified as Shahrukh, a resident of ward 8, Nuh, and Akil, a resident of Rupdaka village under Hathin police station in Palwal district.

This case is of 2018 when cow protectors and Bajrang Dal members raided a warehouse in Nuh along with the Cow Task Force and seized a vehicle loaded with about 1,100 cow skins and ‘ojri’. Based on the statement of Gau Rakshak Dal member Monu Manesar, who is lodged in a Rajasthan jail, the Nuh police had registered a case against accused Shahrukh and Akil.

Assistant Sub-District Attorney Mohit Kumar Tanwar said that in November 2018, based on a tip-off, a team of Bajrang Dal and Cow Task Force raided a warehouse located in ward 8 of Nuh. As many as 1,100 hides and ‘ojri’ were found in a vehicle parked there. During the raid, two youths fled from the spot. The informant identified them as Shahrukh and Akil.

Samples of the recovered hides and ‘ojri’ were taken and sent to the laboratory. Those were confirmed as bovine remains. Both accused were arrested in 2019.
