Two get life sentence in Kurukshetra murder case

Fine of ₹2.5 lakh each imposed on convicts

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge has sentenced two men to rigorous imprisonment for life in the murder case of one Vinod Kumar.

The court has sentenced Surinder and Hardeep Singh for the murder and imposed a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh each on them.

A Kurukshetra Police Spokesman said Anil, a resident of Vashishth Colony, in his compliant stated that his brother Vinod Kumar was involved in liquor trade. On August 29, 2020, he was going to meet his brother. When he reached near a ‘chakki’, he met Vinod and his friend Vikas. All of a sudden, Hardeep Singh, Mukesh, Surinder, Jaipal and two more youths reached there. Hardeep Singh allegedly opened fire at Vinod and he suffered a bullet injury in the head. Surinder stabbed Vikas with a knife on the back of his neck.

As Vikas escaped from there, they chased him on motorcycle. Vinod was rushed to Civil Hospital where he was declared dead.

A case was registered at the Thanesar City police station and the matter was handed over to CIA-1 unit of the Kurukshetra police.

The court held Surinder and Hardeep Singh guilty and sentenced them to rigorous life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh each on them.
