Two men have been arrested for the alleged gangrape of a 14-year-old girl from Sirsa, who ran away from home after being scolded by her father and was subsequently held captive and sexually assaulted for three days in a Gurugram flat before being abandoned at the Delhi railway station, officials said on Friday.
According to the police, the minor left her home on July 1 following an argument with her father over household chores. With no clear destination, she arrived at Sirsa railway station and, in a state of confusion, boarded a random train.
Her plight inside the train caught the attention of a young man identified as Aman, a student from Rohtak’s Rithal Phogat village. Police said Aman gained her trust by offering water and emotional support. He allegedly lured the girl by claiming he was going to Gurugram and promised her shelter, shopping, and food. The girl agreed to accompany him.
In Gurugram, Aman took her to a flat rented by his relative, Amit, a financer from Jhajjar district. The evening was spent at malls and restaurants, but the situation turned horrific once they returned to the flat. The two men are accused of taking turns raping her over the next three days.
The ordeal ended on July 5 when, after a dispute between the two accused, they abandoned the victim at the Delhi railway station.
The Sirsa Police, who had registered a missing person's report filed by the family on July 2, launched a rescue operation. The search intensified after intervention from the DGP and Chief Minister’s office. Sub-Inspector Komal Singh of the Women’s Police Station said, “The police traced the phone of the minor girl and found her location in Delhi. After this, the Sadar Police and Women’s Police searched for the girl and recovered her.”
Medical examinations later confirmed sexual assault. The investigation, aided by CCTV footage from Gurugram that showed both accused with the girl, led to their arrests. Based on the victim’s statement and video evidence, police arrested Aman and Amit from their respective homes; both had attempted to flee. A case has been registered under various sections, including gangrape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Currently, one accused has been sent to jail while the other is in judicial custody. A vehicle has also been recovered from the possession of the accused, and the investigation is ongoing.
