A team of the CIA, Kosli, has arrested two persons involved in illegal distribution of banned drugs. The accused have been identified as Kamran Asraf of Kudoni village and Abdul Haseeb of Nogaiya village in Bahraich district (Uttar Pradesh). Another man, Brijendra, had previously been arrested in connection with the case.
“On February 3, the police received input that a man, Brijendra, was involved in selling banned drugs in the area. The information indicated that he would be found standing on Ramgarh Road, near Prajapati Chowk, with drugs in his possession. Acting swiftly, a raiding party was formed, and the accused was apprehended from the location,” said the district police spokesman.
He said on questioning, the accused identified himself as Brijendra Kumar Verma of Mohri Khurd village, district Bahraich and also confirmed his current residence in Rewari. A search, conducted in the presence of the Duty Magistrate, led to the recovery of 2,892 banned intoxicating tablets from his possession. Consequently, Brijendra was arrested, and a case was registered against him under the NDPS Act at the Sadar police station, Rewari.
“During interrogation, Brijendra revealed that he had been obtaining the banned intoxicant drugs from Kamran Asraf and Abdul Haseeb. As a result, the police intensified its investigation and arrested both Kamran Asraf and Abdul Haseeb on Saturday. In the course of the arrest, the police recovered an additional 160 banned intoxicant tablets from Kamran Asraf’s possession,” the spokesman added.
The accused were produced in a local court which awarded them four-day police remand for further interrogation.
