Two open fire on sarpanch’s car in Palwal, 7 booked
Palwal, July 7
Miscreants allegedly opened fire on a sarpanch’s vehicle in the district last evening. No injury was reported as the car had no occupant at the time of incident.
According to the complaint lodged by Dharana village sarpanch Rocky, two unidentified youths, who were armed and wearing masks, arrived outside a gym located on the Hassanpur-Jatoli road near Hodal and opened fire on his car that was parked outside, damaging its window panes.
The sarpanch told the police that the accused also threatened to kill him if he “dared to speak against Kuldeep Fauji and Harbir Vakil”, both local residents, before fleeing the spot. He added that the incident took place a few minutes after he left his car and entered the gym.
The whole incident was recorded in the CCTV camera installed outside the gym. Although the cause of the incident was yet to be ascertained, an old dispute between two groups is suspected to be one of the factors behind the incident, said police sources.
The police have registered a case against seven persons under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, while a probe had also been launched, said an official.
