Two-year-old crushed to death by canter

A two-year-old child was crushed to death under the Jatal Road flyover by a canter on Sunday afternoon. The child was playing under the flyover. Enraged over the child’s death, the people gathered at the spot and damaged the canter.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul, son of Raju of Shastri Colony here.

Raju said his son Rahul was playing on the street on Sunday afternoon when he came under the Jatal flyover to play there. There a canter crushed him and he was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. Meanwhile, the police team reached the spot after getting information and pacified the people.

However, the canter driver managed to flee from the spot. The police kept the body of the child in the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The Krishanpura police impounded the canter and brought it to the police post and began searching for the driver of the canter.
