UHBVN official caught taking Rs 18,600 bribe

The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested commercial assistant of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) Jitesh Chawla while accepting a bribe of Rs 18,600 late last evening.
He was produced in a court that remanded him in judicial custody today.
The spokesperson of the Anti-Corruption Bureau said the team received a complaint that commercial assistant Jitesh Chawla had declined to settle the complainant’s outstanding bill of Rs 1.16 lakh allowing him the benefits under a government scheme. A bribe was demanded in exchange for releasing the new meter connection. Acting on information, the Anti-Corruption Bureau team devised a plan to apprehend the accused and successfully arrested him while accepting a bribe of Rs 18,600.
