The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) will organise “Urja Panchayats” in the rural and urban areas from December 10. This initiative has been taken following the directions of Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs.
During the district electricity committee (DEC) meeting held on November 19 at the Mini Secretariat here, Khattar had directed officials of the UHBVN to start holding “Urja Panchayats” to engage with residents in order to address their grievances and raise awareness about the power corporation’s schemes.
Officials would hold “Urja Panchayats” for two hours as per schedule in different areas.
“Following the instructions of the Union Power Minister, we are going to hold “Urja Panchayats” from December 10, from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. The main purpose of such panchayats is to encourage participation of consumers and enable them voice their concerns regarding various issues and make them aware about various schemes of the power corporation as well as about PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana,” said Neeraj Kumar, XEN (City). Officials would also take feedback from consumers about redressal of their grievances, he said.
On the first day, the panchayats would be organised at Sarfarabad Majra under Newal sub-division office, Munak village under Munak sub-division Office, Sultanpur village under Taraori sub-division office, Aradana village under Assandh sub-division Office-1, he added.
Similarly, on December 13, panchayats would be organised in areas under sub-division offices Gharaunda, Indri, Assandh-II and Meerut Road, he said, while adding that on December 17, panchayats would be held in areas under the sub-urban sub-division office Karnal, sub-division offices Nigdhu, Jundla and Nissing, he said.
On December 19, Urja Panchayats would be held in the areas of sub-division offices Ram Nagar, Gharaunda, Garhibirbal, Nilokheri and Bhadson and Model Town.
The XEN urged people to participate in these panchayats to raise their electricity-related issues. He assured that officials would make all efforts to address their grievances in panchayats.
