Uttarakhand, Kurukshetra police nab wanted criminal

In a joint operation, the Uttarakhand police and the Kurukshetra police have arrested a wanted criminal, involved in loot and extortion cases in various states.

The suspect has been identified as Rahul, a resident of Bihar.

Superintendent of Police Varun Singla said the Uttarakhand police was in search of Rahul, whose name cropped up as the prime accused in a Rs 14.50 crore loot case of 2023, at a Reliance jewellery showroom in Uttarakhand. While other members of his gang were arrested, he was wanted and changing his locations constantly.

The Uttarakhand got a tip-off that the accused was hiding in Kurukshetra following which they sought help from the Haryana Police. The teams of Dehradun police and the CIA-1 of the Kurukshetra police in a joint operation arrested Rahul from Amin Road in Kurukshetra.”

The accused had come to Kurukshetra about four to five days ago. The accused has cases against him in Uttarakhand, Bihar and West Bengal, and the Bihar and Uttarakhand police had also announced rewards of Rs 1 lakh each on the accused. As per the police, Rahul was also involved in a Rs 25 crore loot in West Bengal at the Reliance jewellery showroom, and 13 cases of loot and extortion against him, in which he was wanted in four cases, the SP said.
