Unauthorised colony razed in Yamunanagar district
A demolition drive was carried out by a team of the Town and Country Planning Department at an unauthorised colony in Chhachhrauli town of Yamunanagar district.
Officials said the colony was spread over 1 acre and 3.3 marlas. The team demolished ‘kutcha’ roads and damp-proof courses (DPCs) at the unauthorised colony.
District Town Planner (DTP) Rajesh Kumar said the Chhachhrauli Naib Tehsildar was appointed the Duty Magistrate to carry out the demolition drive.
A police force, led by the Chhachhrauli police station SHO and the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, was deployed at the site during the drive, he added.
He said notices were issued to the defaulters under Controlled Area Act 12, Sub-section 2. However, they did not comply with departmental orders. “Land owners and others involved did not take necessary permission before setting up the colony, therefore, the drive was conducted,” Kumar said.
The drive was conducted as per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, and more such drives would be held in future, he added. He appealed to the general public to not buy or sell plots in unauthorised colonies.
“If any person is found constructing a building in an illegal colony, the district administration demolish it, and actions would be taken against land holders and others involved,” Kumar added.
