Uncle-niece duo turns saviour for differently abled candidates

A heartwarming act of kindness was witnessed in Bhiwani town when an uncle-niece duo went out of the way to help two differently abled candidates, who appeared in the Common Eligibility Test (CET) today.

Nitika Duhan, a Class XI student, became a scribe for a visually impaired woman, Jasveer Devi Kaushik, enabling her to take the CET exam at Chaudhary Bansilal Polytechnic College, Sector 13, in Bhiwani.

On the request of Jasveer, a resident of Umarawat village in Bhiwani district, Nitika agreed to write the exam for her after getting consent from her family.

At the same time, Nitika’s maternal uncle Vikas Kumar – a village secretary posted in Tosham – helped another differently abled candidate, Poonam, who suffers from 70% physical disability.

When Poonam and her father reached out to Vikas for transportation, he arranged a private vehicle during his duty hours and ensured that Poonam reached her exam centre at Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Bhiwani, in time.

The Common Eligibility Test (CET) is a key exam for government job aspirants in Haryana and is being held after a gap of three years.

31,447 take exam in Hisar

Hisar: As many as 31,447 candidates appeared for the CET examination in the two sessions held on the first day of the examination in Hisar on Saturday. In the morning session, out of 16,688 registered candidates, 15,866 appeared while 822 remained absent.

In the evening session, out of the same number of registered candidates, 15,581 appeared and 1,107 were absent.
