Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V Somanna, today visited land erosion-affected areas along the Yamuna in district.
He inspected the Lapra, Tapu Kamalpur and Unhedi villages and directed officials to strengthen river embankments to prevent further soil erosion.
The Union Minister assured farmers and villagers that the government would provide special compensation for the losses caused by heavy rain. He emphasised that delivering timely relief to affected families was the top priority.
Somanna said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had instructed ministers to visit flood-affected areas and that both the central and state governments were working together to accelerate relief and rehabilitation efforts.
He further stated that the Prime Minister had stressed adopting a multi-pronged approach for reconstruction in affected areas.
He said that this included rebuilding houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, repairing national highways, restoring schools and extending support through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
Highlighting the importance of farmers as the “annadatas” (food providers) of the nation, he assured that the government would provide all possible financial assistance during this difficult time.
On the occasion, former Haryana Cabinet Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar also assured villagers that no affected farmer or family would be left out of the relief process.
