Union Power Minister Khattar renews active BJP membership in Karnal
Union Power Minister Manohar Lal renewed his active membership with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a membership drive in Karnal on Sunday. Khattar also emphasised on mobilising grassroots workers ahead of the upcoming municipal corporation (MC) elections.
He also chaired a meeting of the party workers and highlighted the importance of active membership within the BJP.
“Active membership offers every worker the opportunity to work for the betterment of society and the nation," he said.
He also exhorted the party workers to intensify their efforts for the municipal elections. He also discussed key points and took feedback from the party workers to ensure the party’s success in the MC polls. He also exhorted workers to focus on strengthening the organisational structure.
“The Election Commission has initiated preparations, and the BJP is fully ready for the elections. Once the elections are declared, the party will complete all formalities.”
Before leaving for Chandigarh on Sunday late evening, Khattar, while interacting with mediapersons, also commented on the ongoing farmers’ protest and said the issue was largely a concern of Punjab. “This matter primarily pertains to Punjab. In Haryana, there has been no such issue. The Supreme Court has already instructed discussions with the farmers of Punjab. Our Union Government has extended offers for a dialogue with the farmers multiple times. A committee was also formed by the Supreme Court, but the farmers have not engaged with it. If the farmers approach for talks with conditions, that is not the right approach. Both sides need to extend a hand of cooperation for any resolution to be achieved. Dialogue is the only way to find a solution,” said Khattar.
On Delhi Assembly elections, Khattar claimed that the BJP was in a strong position in Delhi and would form a government. “The elections in Delhi are major and can be announced at any time. All parties have started declaring their candidates, and BJP has also released its first list. Once the elections are announced, every party will present its agenda. I can confidently say that the BJP is ahead in Delhi this time, and we will form the government,” he added. BJP working district president, Brij Gupta said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched 'Sakriya Sadasyata' (active membership) in October. An 'active member' of the BJP had to enroll at least 50 persons as party members in a booth or an Assembly seat. Only active members could take part in the party's organisational elections, which would begin after the membership drive ended.Union Minister Manohar Lal enrolled 4,689 members in the party under the membership drive. He said 2.88 lakh members were enrolled in Karnal district and they had achieved the target.
