UP border along Yamuna to be monitored with drones
The Panipat police will monitor the border with Uttar Pradesh, which is marked by the Yamuna river, through drone cameras to check the entry of anti-social elements and to avert the flow of liquor and other prohibited items during the Assembly elections.
To conduct the Assembly elections in a smooth manner, an inter-state meeting of police officials was held at the police headquarters here on Wednesday.
It was decided that Haryana and Uttar Pradesh police would jointly keep a watch on the border area to maintain law and order during the polls.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Lokender Singh, Superintendent of Police, and discussions were held to stop the smuggling of arms, liquor and other drugs from across the border.
Officers of Panipat, Karnal and Uttar Pradesh police, including Satish Vats, DSP, Headquarters; Narender Singh, DSP, Samalkha; Manoj Kumar, DSP, Gharaunda; Amardeep, DSP, Kairana; and Vijay Kumar, DSP, Baghpat, and were among those present at the meeting. SP Lokender Singh said that there should be better mutual coordination between the officers and the police personnel of both states.
He asked police officials of Uttar Pradesh to set up nakas and intercept suspects in their areas.
He said CCTV cameras had already been installed at Sanoli, near the Haryana-Uttar Pradesh border.
Panipat police are actively patrolling and carrying out checking operations in the area adjacent to the Yamuna river.
The lists of proclaimed offenders, bail jumpers and most wanted criminals were also exchanged by the police officials of both states.
It was decided that patrolling in the villages along the Yamuna on the UP side would also be increased and information would be shared on social media.
