Giving a major relief to people ahead of upcoming Assembly elections, the state government has decided to waive user charges for solid waste management in urban areas of the state from September 1, 2023 to March 31, 2025.

No change in Sonepat, Gurugram cluster

The user charges are not exempted/waived for the urban local bodies which fall under Integrated Solid Waste Management Cluster of Sonepat (Sonepat, Panipat, Gannaur and Samalkha) and Gurugram (Gurugram-Faridabad)

Sources said the charges had been levied on all sorts of residential, commercial and institutional properties that fall under the municipal limit. The charges were collected from residents by the municipal authorities in urban areas on a monthly basis along with the property tax. Executing the government’s decision, the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) has updated the exemption of user charges on property tax management and no-dues certificate portal.
