Haryana Assembly Deputy Speaker Krishan Middha today said that the Vande Mataram song was not merely a collection of words, but a reflection of country’s unity.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the district-level programme organised on the 150th anniversary of the national song at the auditorium of Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Thanesar, on Friday.
Middha said “When Vande Mataram was composed, our country was under foreign rule. Through this song, we remember the great heroes who sacrificed their lives for Mother India.”
Before this, Middha and former Minister of State Subhash Sudha had visited an exhibition based on the composition, organised by the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department on the school premises.
Middha said, “We should rise above religion, region, and caste and unite for Mother India. To serve the motherland, we should contribute to education, social responsibility and nation-building. Programmes based on Vande Mataram should be organised in educational institutions and social organisations of the state. Similarly, speech and essay competitions should also be held in all schools and colleges.”
The Deputy Speaker said that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had launched a campaign to save the youth of the state from ruining their lives with drugs. In all districts, events like Run for Unity and Cyclothon are being organised to educate and create awareness among the people.
He said that PM Narendra Modi had instilled a passion and enthusiasm for the country among the citizens. Earlier, people were forgetting patriotism, but now the slogan of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ is heard everywhere, he added.
