Varsity launches special service at Rohtak primary health centre
Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS) in collaboration with the district health authorities today launched its special programme to provide healthcare services through specialist doctors at the Urban Primary Health and Wellness Centre (UPHC) here. The UHS Vice Chancellor Dr HK Aggarwal accompanied by PGIMS Director Dr SK Singhal, Civil Surgeon Dr Ramesh Chander Arya and Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal launched the programme at the Ekta Colony centre here.
“Under the programme, a team of seven specialist doctors from the PGIMS will run OPD services at the centre on every Saturday so that patients of nearby areas do not have to go to the medical institute for treatment. Patients requiring advanced treatment will be referred to the PGIMS, where they will get medical attention on priority,” said Dr Aggarwal.
He maintained the services would help patients avoid travel, long queues and wait for their turn to get treatment at the PGIMS where thousands of people visit the OPD block every day. It was for the first time that specialist doctors from the PGIMS would extend their services at the centre regularly, he added.
Dr SK Singhal said specialist doctors from various departments, including orthopaedics, gynaecology, dermatology, medicine, surgery and psychiatry, would be available at the primary health centre every Saturday.
“Necessary tests and medicines will be made available for patients at the primary health centre,” said Dr Ramesh Chand Arya, Civil Surgeon.
Dr Kundan Mittal said specialist doctors from the PGIMS would be available at other UPHCs located in Sukhpura Chowk, Gau Karan, and Hari Singh Colony here on one Saturday in a month from 10 am to 1 pm.
