The 10th vegetable expo concluded on Monday at the Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for Vegetables, Gharaunda. MLA Harvinder Kalyan encouraged farmers to practise organic farming to make farming lucrative.

Kalyan elaborated on different schemes of the government under which subsidies were being extended to farmers. He also stressed on the need to use new technology and added that there was a need for new technologies in all sectors, including agriculture to promote progress.

Kalyan said farmers often use excessive fertilisers to increase productivity, which can be hazardous in the long run. The MLA said the Union and the state governments had increased the minimum support price (MSP) for various crops by 2 to 2.5 times in the past 9 years. The MLA honoured progressive farmers from various parts of the state.
