Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha said the MCYJ had created street vending zones for the street vendors.

He said that 196 booths were ready in the vending zone located near Ganesh Market, 44 booths in the vending zone of Prakash Chowk and 96 booths were ready in the vending zone, situated close to Jabbi Wala Gurdwara.

“Parking, water, electricity, toilets and other arrangements have been made in all these three vending zones. Sheds have been made above the booths to avoid rain and sun. The street vendors will be able to sell their goods by standing under these sheds,” said Sinha.

He said there was a provision of taps at the vending site for drinking water and there would be a provision of dustbins to throw garbage in the vending zones.

“Under the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, street vendors/hawkers, who have street vending certificate and licence, will be shifted in the vending zones as per the rule,” said Sinha.

He said the interested street vendors could apply till January 22 for the allotment of booths.

“Applications will be submitted at the MCYJ office located at Kanhaiya Sahib Chowk from 9 am to 5 pm on every working day till January 22. The street vendors should bring along the licence issued by the Municipal Corporation, Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter card and bank copy to apply for the booths,” said Sinha.
