Verification of 191 crushers begins in Yamunanagar district
A joint committee today started verification of stone crushers in Yamunanagar district to check environmental compliances, stock of mining mineral and other parameters.
The verification is being conducted in compliance with an order passed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on December 24, in the case Sukhdeep Singh versus Haryana Pollution Control Board and others.
The report shall be submitted to the NGT before February 15.
Virender Singh Punia, Regional Officer of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB), Yamunanagar, said the joint committee comprised officers of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), HSPCB and Revenue, Forest and Mines and Geology departments.
“The Mining Department will conduct the verification of 191 stone crushing units with respect to the sources of procurement of raw material/raw mining mineral,” said Punia.
Deputy Commissioner Captain Manoj Kumar also held a meeting with the officers of the departments of the joint committee on Wednesday.
At the meeting, the DC asked members of the committee to complete the verification work within the stipulated period and send a report to the NGT.
As per the directions, the Revenue and Forest departments would conduct physical site verification of 160 crushing units lying outside the notified zone and submit a fresh demarcation report to the HSPCB office.
The verification was to be carried out as per schedule-I of the State of Haryana Notification of May 11, 2016.
The HSPCB would conduct the verification of the crushing units with respect to environmental norms as per the Central Pollution Control Board Environmental Guidelines 2023 and notification dated May 11, 2016, respectively.
