The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) launched a drive to reclaim the Hindu temples which are being run by the governments of different states, including Haryana.

This was stated by VHP international president Alok Kumar while addressing a news conference at Rohtak on Saturday.

"No state government controls any mosque or gurdwara. Then why should they have control over the temples? Nearly 10,000 temples across the country are under government control. The Hindus will reclaim all of these," he said.

Kumar said members of the Haryana state committee of the VHP had met the Chief Minister and urged him to withdraw the state government's control over the temples.

"If the government fails to do that willingly, we will launch an agitation to reclaim the temples," he cautioned.

The VHP president said the parishad had also reaffirmed its resolve to get the Idgah located at the birthplace of Lord Krishna in Mathura and the Gyanvapi mosque located at the site of Vishweshwar Temple in Kashi (Varanasi) shifted elsewhere in a Constitutional way.

"We have got back our site at Ayodhya, now is the turn for Kashi and Mathura," he stated.
