Vice-Prez lays stone of museum at institute

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a museum dedicated to former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala at JCD Vidyapeeth, an educational institute run by the Chautala family.

Before the ceremony, the Vice-President, along with his wife Dr Sudesh Dhankhar and INLD leader Abhay Chautala, planted trees in the memory of their mothers.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and honour the memories of their loved ones.

The event also included a convocation ceremony, where degrees were conferred on 430 students, and 42 students were awarded gold medals for their performance.

Dr Sudesh Dhankhar was the guest of honour, and Abhay Chautala presided over the ceremony.

Other guests included Cabinet Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa, former minister Sampat Singh, Kanta Chautala and MLA Arjun Singh Chautala.

According to JCD director- general Jai Parkash, the new museum will showcase Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala’s contributions to the fields of education and social service.

It would display personal items such as books, shoes, glasses, documents and furniture used by him, offering visitors a glimpse into his life, Prakash added.

During the convocation, the Vice-President encouraged the graduates, highlighting that education played a vital role in both personal growth and societal development.

He also invited students to visit the new Parliament building and join him for lunch, a gesture that was met with enthusiasm.

JCD chairman Arjun Singh Chautala urged the graduates to use their knowledge for the benefit of society.

Sampat Singh acknowledged the university’s role in fulfilling the vision of Chaudhary Devi Lal, with alumni now holding various positions across India, and the world.
