The district police on Saturday claimed to have solved the murder mystery of 23-year-old Mohit whose blood-soaked body was found near a canal in Mehrana village here on March 3. The police have arrested three individuals, including the victim's wife.

“The murder was the result of an illicit relationship between Mohit’s wife Ritu and her relative, Satyavan (38), also from the same village in Hisar. The duo had hatched a plot for Mohit’s murder with the help of Raj Suryavanshi, a migrant labourer, employed by Satyavan. The trio were arrested and have confessed to their involvement in the crime,” disclosed Inspector Vivek Malik, in-charge of the Jhajjar CIA branch of the district police.

Malik explained that the crime was perpetrated on the evening of March 2 when Satyavan, aided by Raj, shot Mohit near the canal in Mehrana village. Earlier, Raj had approached Mohit that evening, taking him in a car on some pretext. “The duo was captured by a CCTV camera, which proved to be crucial in solving the case. Raj took Mohit to Satyavan, who shot him before fleeing the scene,” Malik added.

Mohit’s body, marked with bullet wounds, was found the following day by villagers near the canal. As the news of the murder spread, a large crowd gathered at the site, expressing their outrage. At that time, Virendra, Mohit’s uncle, said his nephew was last seen speaking to someone near his house on the evening of March 2. He also recalled seeing a suspicious car in the area, after which Mohit went missing.

Meanwhile, ACP Anil Kumar said the fire arm used in the crime was bought by Raj Suryavanshi from Uttar Pradesh 10 days ago. The fire arm and the car used in the crime was recovered.

“The investigation revealed that Mohit got married one year ago in Hisar but his wife was not happy with the relationship as she already had an affair with Satyavan from her village, hence they plotted to get rid of Mohit. All three accused were produced before a local court which sent the woman to judicial custody while two others were taken on police remand for four days,” said the ACP.
