Video: Neeraj Chopra’s true sportsmanship makes him a champion

This is how Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra stands apart from others. The Olympics gold winner, late on Monday night, urged people to follow the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Chopra is the first Indian to win a gold medal in athletics at Olympics. “Somewhere, I feel we’re not following the Paralympic games enough…I urge you to please follow the games,” he said in a video. Praising the Indian contingent’s performances, he said, “They need our support”.

Earlier too he showed his true sportsmanship while taking a stand for Pakistani javelin Arshad Nadeem after people on social media went after him for picking up Chopra’s javelin in the final at the Tokyo Olympics.
While Neeraj became the Olympic champion, Arshad finished fifth. He kept pushing Neeraj to do his best.
“Athletes should respect their competitors because they have all proved themselves good enough to be there,” neeraj had said, adding: “Regardless of gender and nationality, sportspersons respect each other and respect each other for our achievements, no matter how big or small. That’s one of the most important things that sports teaches you.”
