Ahead of the forthcoming consecration of Lord Rama’s idol in Ayodhya on January 22, the Nuh police have declared as “sensitive” several spots where clashes had erupted during the Jalabhishek Yatra in August 2023 and stepped up the security there.

Appeal by SP

Special arrangements are being made around ‘sensitive’ spots. We are also keeping tabs on social media networks. We appeal to the people to abstain from circulating any instigating messages. Narender Bijarnia, Nuh SP

With several “provocative” messages and videos doing the rounds on social media, the Nuh police have stepped up vigil in all “sensitive” areas, including temples and mosques in Nuh, Tauru and Punhana.

“Special arrangements are being made around ‘sensitive’ spots. We are also keeping tabs on all social media networks. We appeal to the people to abstain from circulating any instigating messages. We have also persuaded religious leaders to appeal for maintaining peace in such areas,” said Nuh SP Narender Bijarnia.

Social media groups in Mewat are abuzz with warnings asking local people to refrain from travelling towards Uttar Pradesh via trains till January 22, citing the possibility of altercation with right wing activists on way to Ayodhya. They have also been asked to stay away from temples in Mewat where celebrations will be held by right wing outfits and cow vigilante groups. Sources claim that the police were working to identify “troublemakers” who might be detained before the Ayodhya event.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Rashtriya Manch along with various local outfits has announced to hold grand celebrations in view of the forthcoming consecration of the Lord Rama’s idol in Ayodhya. They announced to light up diyas at local mazars and mosques to mark the event.
