Vij champions bodybuilding for youth development and fitness

Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij expressed immense joy while attending the Mr Ambala Bodybuilding Competition at the open-air theatre in Subhash Park. He emphasised that such events play a crucial role in eliminating negative societal influences while promoting health awareness.

Vij said his vision of establishing an open-air theatre for diverse activities had finally come to fruition, making it a hub for cultural and fitness events. “My dream is for the people of my city to remain happy, engaged, and active,” he said.

Addressing the gathering at the event, organized by the Ambala Fitness and Bodybuilding Association yesterday, Vij encouraged young bodybuilders to share their skills with others. He also assured them of full government support in promoting bodybuilding as a sport.

Vij highlighted that cultural and fitness programmes were regularly held at the open-air theatre, ensuring continuous engagement for the city's residents. "Hardly a week passes without a cultural programme here," he said.

Further, he expressed his aspiration for Mr Haryana and Mr India bodybuilding competitions to be hosted in Ambala Cantonment, stating, "I wish not only for the Mr Ambala competition to be held here but also for Mr Haryana and Mr India to take place in Ambala Cantonment."

He envisioned local wrestling arenas (akhadas) bustling with activity, where young athletes regularly train in bodybuilding and fitness. He stressed that such events inspire spectators to pursue a healthier lifestyle. "Even those who come as spectators will be encouraged to build their bodies and muscles like the participants," he said.

Vij praised the organisers for hosting an inspiring event and congratulated all participants. He honoured winners across various categories, motivating them to continue excelling in their fitness journeys.

Upon his arrival, Vij was warmly welcomed by bodybuilding association representatives, including Vikas Jindal and other dignitaries. Several BJP leaders and local officials attended the event, including Narendra Rana, Fakir Chand Saini, Madan Lal, Pramod, Lucky, Mohit Kaushik, Harsh Bindra, Ravi Buddhiraja and Deepak Bhaseen.
